Today sees the publication of the final report of the government’s expert group that was set up following publication in December 2017 of the interim report of the Hackitt Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety.

The report repeats the 8 high level recommendations for change and the 7 “stepping stones” for delivery that were incorporated previously into the Hackitt Review’s final report in May 2018 and is available here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/final-report-of-the-expert-group-on-structure-of-guidance-to-the-building-regulations.

It estimates that the process of rationalising, reviewing, updating, renaming, improving and digitising of all the Approved Documents into a single entity supported by Building Regulations Manual(s) may take up to 6 years.
